Julia Moniewski

Statement

The focus of Julia Moniewski’s work is on figurative design, including nude drawing. She creates pictures and portraits of people “live” as well as from photographs. She combines painting with drawing and adds accents with charcoal and pencil after applying the paint.

She has remained true to the fine arts to this day and describes music as an important tool in her painting. Julia Moniewski often chooses the female sex as her subject. “Women are a source of beauty, tenderness and sensitivity for me. Although they are considered fragile, they are inwardly very strong and resilient,” says Moniewski.

By combining the colorful expressiveness of her works with abstract forms, she has developed her own style of painting. A central aspect is the theme of “identity”. She usually leaves out the faces of her protagonists completely and disguises their identity. “The dialog between my inner self – the soul – and the outer world is a search for my own identity,” explains Moniewski. All the pictures always embody her own feelings and moods.
