Statement
My work begins in sensation, movement, and inner perception rather than in a predetermined image. I follow intuitively emerging lines, dots, patterns, floating structures, and invented motifs until they gather into a visual field charged with its own tensions, relationships, and energies. Over time, this process has formed a personal language that moves between script, memory-trace, and emotional cartography. The child-like quality in my work is deliberate: it allows me to remain close to a state of perception that is open, immediate, and unguarded. Pattern, for me, is never merely decorative; it is rhythmic, meditative, and structural, holding time, breath, and intensity within the surface of the painting. In this way, each work becomes an open space where intuition and discipline meet, inviting viewers not only to look, but to feel, to enter, and to encounter something of their own inner world.
Bio
Deviprasad Rao (Devi) is a self-taught contemporary artist whose multidisciplinary practice has unfolded since 2003 across painting, sculpture, photography, murals, and performative installation. Over more than two decades, he has developed a distinctive visual language shaped by intuition, sustained experimentation, and a deep engagement with form as a vessel for inner experience. Exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions and held in private and public collections across more than 30 countries, his work brings together lines, dots, patterns, organic structures, and imagined forms into a richly internalised image-world. The playful, child-like dimension in his art is not naïve but intentional—a return to a primal mode of perception in which instinct, memory, and emotional intelligence converge in a language that is at once poetic, symbolic, and architectonic.
