Matthias Luchsinger

Statement

Matthias Luchsinger took up photography again during the COVID-19 pandemic. He primarily photographs street scenes and architecture.

It all started at train stations, since he only travels by public transportation. He doesn’t set out with the intention of taking photos, but rather spots subjects that fascinate him or tell him stories in the moment. He captures these subjects exclusively with his cell phone camera, and three-quarters of his photos are in black and white.

He calls his photo series “Trainstation,” “Unknown,” “Architecture,” “Artography,” or “Intothesky.” What fascinates him is the moment, and with his “Couples” series, he aims to present images that either belong together or can be contrasting. Here, too, it’s important to him that they tell stories or, at times, make the viewer smile.

His photographs have been exhibited at venues including Photo Schweiz and the Bildhalle Gallery in Zurich, as well as at Photoforum Zug, Photoforum Cham, and the Kurioz Gallery in Zug.

Bio

Professionally, he worked as a media entrepreneur in the TV and film industry in Zurich and currently lives in Horgen. He is currently a co-owner and director of the “Genuss Film Festival” in Zug and a co-founder of “ZFF Genuss Film” in Zurich. In 2025, as a co-initiator, he will open the restaurant “Genuss Galerie Röthelberg” in Zug. His life has always revolved around films and images. Driven by a passion for composing shots, framing images, and telling stories through pictures, he expresses himself fully through his photography—shooting exclusively with his cell phone camera.

Matthias grew up in Zug, still works primarily in Zug, and is the father of a son who also lives in Zug.
