Uwe Henn
Statement
In his artistic work, Uwe Henn explores the perception of a world caught between order, change, and dissolution. In his “Cubes,” symbols and fragments of our media-saturated and built environment are reduced to elementary graphic forms. Lines, crosses, grids, stripes, nets, and dots coalesce into a visual language of their own. The cube thus becomes both a unit of information and a vehicle for individual identity. Its precise, industrial basic form is deliberately disrupted—creating a tension between construction and organic form—through rounded edges and incised surfaces.
In his paintings, Henn translates this exploration into the pictorial space. The starting point is real-world natural environments, which lose their cohesive appearance through a fragmenting, sometimes dotted painting style. Landscape becomes an anti-idyll, an unstable state between perception and dissolution. Movement, energy, and tension point to the fragility of ecological and social systems.
Whether as a three-dimensional sign or as a dissolved landscape—Henn’s works explore the moment when familiar orders begin to falter. In the tension between structure and change, rationality and emotion, works emerge that invite the viewer to reexamine their own perception of order and reality.
